Switchboard Listening Volunteers Needed!

Switchboard is recruiting volunteers! We’re looking for committed, compassionate and empathetic LGBTQ people to play an important role in supporting the LGBTQ community in the South-East of England.

As part of this volunteer role we will give you expert training to help you develop your skills as an active listener. You’ll also get to be part of a dynamic team of LGBTQ people who are passionate about meeting the needs of our community.

Volunteering with our helpline will give you invaluable experience in volunteering for an LGBTQ charity, and make a tangible difference to the lives of LGBTQ people.

As a volunteer you will need to commit to two shifts a month (each shift is two hours) where you will take calls from members of the LGBTQ community, or as a Trans Survivor Switchboard Volunteer, from members of the trans community.

The next round of training for LGBTQ Helpline and Trans Survivors Switchboard volunteers will be in September 2018, and we are currently accepting applications until 29th August 2018. Please see the role descriptions below for more information.
