We’re Looking for Helpline Listening Volunteers

We’re Looking for Helpline Listening Volunteers

Fancy helping out at Brighton & Hove’s oldest LGBTQ charity? We’re looking for Helpline Listening Volunteers to answer calls, emails and webchats from other members of the LGBTQ+ community.

We’re looking for people who:

  • Identify as LGBTQ+
  • Are able to travel to Brighton at least once a month for volunteer meetings
  • Are great listeners and passionate about supporting the LGBTQ+ community
  • Are able to commit to at least two shifts a month

Our helpline will be open every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evening from 7pm-9:30pm.

This role can be done remotely, however the training and monthly volunteer meetings are held in Brighton so the ability to travel to Brighton is essential.

Training will take place from 5:30 – 7:30pm on Wednesday 6th July, Wednesday 13th July, Wednesday 20th July and Wednesday 27th July, and will be held at Community Base on Queen’s Road.

To apply please fill out our form here.

The deadline for applications is 9am, Monday 6th June 2022.

On a pale peach background there is an illustration of a white person with black hair listening to a massive phone that is as tall as they are. The phone is orange and yellow with a cord wrapped around the person's legs. There are black zigzags coming out of the phone, indicating someone speaking. Lots of outlines of beans dot the page in various shades of orange. Text reads: "Join our team. Helpline Listening Volunteers. Closing Date: 6th June 2022. www.switchboard.org.uk/volunteer" The Switchboard logo has 9 rainbow coloured dots and text reads: "Connecting you to LGBTQ support".
