We’re incredibly proud that Switchboard’s Ben Howard has been named a finalist for the Breaking the Mould Award at the Elysian Awards 2027.
Ben has been the driving force behind Recover with Pride, Brighton & Hove LGBT Switchboard’s national LGBTQ+ gambling harm prevention and recovery programme.
Drawing on his own lived experience, Ben has helped develop a service offering specialist, trauma-informed support for LGBTQ+ people affected by gambling harms. His work has included building national partnerships, delivering training, raising awareness and challenging stigma.
As the first national programme of its kind, Recover with Pride reflects the enormous amount of work Ben has put into bringing specialist LGBTQ+ gambling harm support to life.
It is wonderful to see him recognised for something he has worked so hard to create, and for the difference he is making to LGBTQ+ people who need support.
