LGBT BME Discussion Session

In January 2014, we hosted a meeting to explore the idea of an engagement forum for LGBT people from Black and minority ethnic (BME) backgrounds in the city. This followed on from the identification that some groups of LGBT people find engagement activities less accessible and are more marginalised within the LGBT community and more widely.

Our preliminary meeting generated some useful intelligence and feedback about what was needed. There was support for a new LGBT BME forum in the city that was ‘owned’ by and worked to the agenda of local LGBT BME people but with support for sustainability. You can read the report from the meeting on our reports page. Many thanks to those who took part.
