New LGBTQ+ Community Steering Group

Switchboard is excited to launch a brand new LGBTQ+ Community Steering Group to help guide our work and place the voice of local lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans* and queer lived experience at the heart of all we do as a charity.

Together the members will act as a ‘critical friend’ to Switchboard, providing input to help guide our services and make sure they are inclusive and relevant to the needs of different groups within LGBTQ+ communities.

One of the aims of the group is to highlight the voices of LGBTQ+ people from groups that are often under-represented in the mainstream LGBTQ+ community sector.

One of the aims of the group is to highlight the voices of  people from groups that are often under-represented in the mainstream LGBTQ+ community sector. This includes people of colour/ people from BAME backgrounds, people from the trans* and non-binary communities and disabled LGBTQ+ people. To make sure these voices are heard, we will be saving a minimum number of spaces in the group for people from these and other backgrounds that are not currently well-represented.

You don’t need any particular qualifications or experience to apply – we value your lived experience above all else.
