Recover With Pride is the UK’s first dedicated, trauma-informed gambling harm recovery programme created by and for LGBTQ+ communities. Led by Brighton & Hove LGBT Switchboard in partnership with Reframe Coaching and the University of Brighton, it offers a safe, identity-affirming space for LGBTQ+ people to explore their relationship with gambling, rebuild stability, and connect with others who understand their experiences.

Recover With Pride provides a blend of one‑to‑one coaching, peer support, and wellbeing groups, all designed to reduce isolation and strengthen recovery. Our approach recognises the unique pressures LGBTQ+ people can face, from stigma and discrimination to financial stress, housing insecurity, and mental health challenges, and responds with compassion, community, and practical tools. 

Our Approach 

  • Trauma‑informed: We prioritise safety, choice, and empowerment. 
  • Identity‑affirming: LGBTQ+ lived experience shapes our design, delivery, and evaluation. 
  • Community‑led: Peer connection is at the heart of recovery. 
  • Accessible: Most sessions are delivered online, making support available across Sussex and beyond. 

LGBTQ+ people are disproportionately affected by gambling harms yet often face barriers to mainstream support. Recover With Pride fills this gap by offering a service where people can show up fully as themselves, be listened to without judgment, and access support that understands the realities of LGBTQ+ life. 

Recover With Pride is for any LGBTQ+ person over 18 affected by gambling, whether you’re worried about your own gambling, supporting someone else, or dealing with the wider impacts such as debt, housing instability, or mental health challenges.
