Research is a key part of Recover with Pride. It helps us understand how gambling harms affect LGBTQ+ people, what gets in the way of support, and what needs to change.

The studies behind Recover with Pride show that LGBTQ+ people are not simply “more likely to gamble”. The picture is more complex. Gambling harms can be shaped by minority stress, discrimination, isolation, identity concealment, financial pressure, and a lack of culturally competent support.

This evidence helps us build support that is trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ affirming, and grounded in lived experience. It also helps us challenge stigma, improve services, and share learning with partners across health, community, research, and public policy.
